Are we planning on closing in a lockdown?

No, we are not planning the same reduction in services as in the first wave.

The first wave was mandated by the Ministry of health. The first closure during the initial outbreak was due to many unknowns regarding COVID, risks of transmission and the impact on pregnancy.  We have learned a lot from the first wave and have developed extensive risk reducing strategies.  We feel it is unlikely that we would need to close unless there was an actual outbreak within the clinic itself and are taking every precaution to avoid this. We have significant safety measures and protocols in place since the initial COVID experience and feel comfortable that we will be able to keep the clinic open.  There has been significant advocacy to support fertility as an essential service. While we still are required to follow ministry directives, we do not foresee reduction in services in the same way

Questioning whether or not to take the COVID-19 Vaccine?

SOGC recommends:

  • “The documented risk of not getting the COVID-19 vaccine outweighs the theorized and undescribed risk of being vaccinated during pregnancy or while breastfeeding and vaccination should be offered.
  • For an individual planning a pregnancy, it is recommended to complete the entire COVID-19 vaccination series (where possible) to achieve maximal vaccine efficacy ahead of pregnancy.
