Mount Sinai Fertility expands access to fertility preservation across Ontario
Mount Sinai Fertility is helping more people with cancer protect their chance of building a family in the future, no matter where they live in Ontario.
A new CMAJ case report highlights our ovarian tissue cryopreservation program, including remote tissue transport to our specialized cryobank in Toronto. This model allows patients to receive surgery closer to home, while Mount Sinai Fertility provides expert counselling, tissue processing, and long-term storage.
Mount Sinai Fertility is the only centre in Canada offering this remote transport option for ovarian tissue cryopreservation. Since the first case, the program has grown quickly, completing 13 cases with more planned this month.
This work reflects a simple but powerful idea: patients should not have to travel far to access leading fertility preservation care. By moving tissue instead of patients, Mount Sinai Fertility is improving access, reducing barriers, and giving more people hope for the future.
