More access. More hope. Your fertility journey, supported.

At Mount Sinai Fertility, we’re proud to partner with the Ontario Fertility Program (OFP) to bring more people in Ontario one step closer to building their family.

The Ontario Fertility program offers public funding for eligible fertility treatments. At Mount Sinai Fertility (MSF), we are ready to guide you through what is new, what it means for you and how to get started.

What’s new in fertility support in Ontario

The Government of Ontario is taking new steps to support people trying to grow their families.

More Access to Funded IVF Cycle

Ontario is investing $250 million to expand access to in vitro fertilization (IVF) through the Ontario Fertility Program (OFP).

Here is what that means:

  • $50 million will be used in 2025–26 to fund about 5,000 more IVF cycles across Ontario.
  • $200 million will be distributed to approved clinics in 2026–27 and 2027–28.

This funding will help reduce wait times for funded IVF cycles across the province—including at Mount Sinai Fertility.

If you’re a current MSF patient waiting for a funded cycle, please reach out to [email protected] to see if your treatment can be scheduled sooner.

If you’re new to Mount Sinai Fertility, learn how to get started here.

You can read more about the announcement on the Government of Ontario website.

What the program covers

Under OFP, eligible Ontario residents with a valid health card can access funded treatments such as:

The program is inclusive: eligibility is regardless of gender, sexual orientation or family status.

What the program does not cover

While the OFP covers many aspects of fertility treatment, some costs remain your responsibility:

  • Fertility medications required for treatments (e.g., IVF cycle drugs)
  • Genetic testing, donor eggs/sperm and storage fees for eggs/sperm/embryos
  • For more information about our fees, please visit our fees page.

A new Ontario fertility treatment tax credit

Starting January 1, 2025, the province will also introduce a new refundable tax credit for fertility treatment expenses.

What’s covered:

  • Up to $5,000 per year
  • Covers 25% of eligible costs, including:
    • IVF cycles
    • Fertility medications
    • Travel for treatment
    • Diagnostic testing

This credit builds on Ontario’s current Medical Expense Tax Credit and offers more financial support to individuals and couples trying to conceive.
